Company Bookkeeper

Process payroll, responsible for payment of goods and services purchased by company, handle and provide support for Human Resources; other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  1. Collect, calculate, and enter payroll data such as; overtime, personal time, insurance, and payroll deductions. Update records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance, job titles, rates, and other deductions. Analyze payroll information to avoid and/or resolve discrepancies. Maintain confidentiality of payroll operations and employee information.
  2. Receive, verify, and reconcile invoices for goods and services purchased. Process invoices, checks, and other payments into QuickBooks. Enter daily transactions into QuickBooks such as; deposits, EFT/ACH transactions, and credits.
  3. Maintenance and record keeping of company benefits such as; medical insurance, disability/life insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Responsible for new hire orientation and paperwork. Compile and maintain personnel files, including employees’ addresses, compensation and absences, track employee performance and record issues.

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping practices and principles
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer use; knowledge of computer applications is essential (accounting software, MS Office, e-mail, internet use)

  • Must be able to track several projects simultaneously, complete tasks promptly, meets deadlines

  1. Knowledge & Skills- Performs assigned tasks; increases knowledge of tax & accounting rules, perseveres to bring high-quality work to completion
  2. Client Relations - Assists in responding to client needs, increases direct client contact.
  3. Client Development - Makes recommendations for opportunities to offer additional services to existing clients to supervisor.
  4. Management - Reports to Managing Partner and Director of Operations

Supervisory Responsibility
The Company Bookkeeper role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work a minimum 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma required. Prior experience with payroll, bookkeeping and/or Human Resources required.

Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred prior experience in payroll, office management and Human Resources.
