Senior Accountant

Summary/Objective
Tax return and financial statement preparation. Researches tax questions; assists senior accounting staff by preparing summaries and reports, and other accounting engagements; works on special projects, as needed.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of a wide variety of tax returns and financial statements and related reports, including but not limited to, federal and state individual income tax returns, corporate tax returns, tax returns for pass through entities, trust tax returns, retirement plan reports. Report to the Accounting Manager the finances of the organization.
  2. Analysis and interpretation of clients’ source documents, organization of work papers in a logical and orderly manner, identification and resolution of issues, proper preparation of tax forms, reconciliation of work papers to tax returns, timely submission of completed engagements to senior staff for review.

  • Must be able to interpret and apply GAAP, AU-C, GAAS, tax code, regulations and other technical standards
  • Must be able to complete research projects in order to reach a technical conclusion
  • Must be able to lead and complete entire consulting and tax engagements

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work a minimum of 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
Completed Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
Must have 4 years of tax or consulting
Must have expertise in one or more of the following industries: Real Estate, Construction, Agriculture

Preferred Education and Experience
CPA or CPA Candidate
